About Us:
Here is a little history about us. We are semi-retired and we farm. We also have Missouri Fox Trotting Horses and we love to trail ride. Living close to the Current River and bordered by public land gives us many miles of trails and country to explore in our spare time.
We raised hunting dogs for years until about 2003 then we got to missing the puppies so at that time I wanted to raise a litter of Corgis. Thus began our search. We already had Emmy Lou at the time she is "the Queen and the Angel Dog" and she is the perfect example of what we wanted to look for. A healthy, good temperament, stout, stocky, athletic smaller Corgi. It took us almost two years to find breeding stock that would fit our high standards. We chose dogs where we could see the parents and even some of the dog's grandparents.
We have owned Corgis for the past 20 years. We have 3 females at present, they have all been raised in our home and are half-sisters. Our male Kip we purchased as a puppy and he is totally unrelated to our females. We are not a kennel we just enjoy the puppies; and Corgis are the only breed we raise. Our puppies are well socialized, they are all raised in our home. Our Corgi puppies are raised with dogs, cats, chickens, horses and people. We will have the pups used to being handled daily, used to a crate, started on potty training, and used to riding in a vehicle. They will start to come to a whistle (human whistle) They can go to their new homes when they are 8 weeks old. All our puppies will be current on vaccinations and worming including first heart-worm treatment. They are happy, healthy, loving puppies. Our puppies are AKC (American Kennel Club) and APRI (America's Pet Registry Inc.).
We are a hobby breeder and are striving to obtain an athletic, smaller Corgi around 20 lbs. This is what the breed standard was when the breed was started in the 1930's. Our females weigh 18-24 lbs and out males weighs 22-24 lbs. They have wonderful temperaments, are stout, athletic well built dogs and they are passing these traits on to their puppies. Our Corgis have proved to be wonderful watchdogs and loyal family companions.. We do not show our dogs they are truly our farm dogs and our companions. They are with us on the farm whether we are cutting wood, fixing fence or cleaning/mucking out stalls or simply relaxing in the house watching TV. Our Corgis love to go for daily walks on our many trails through the woods. We live close to the Current River and during the hot summer days you will often find us and our Corgi friends at the river enjoying the cooler temperatures along the water. They love to be with us, whatever we are doing.
Update: Dave decided to sell his horse in 2017 and devote all his time to the dogs. Linda in her spare time still enjoys trail riding with her Missouri Fox Trotting horse. We have raised and trained Fox Trotters for the past 30 years, and Quarter horses before that. Now we just enjoy our Corgis and Linda still trail rides her horse.
